THE C21 INTERVIEW: Andy Kaplan, president of worldwide networks at Sony Pictures Television, tells C21TV about the studio's global channels and local production strategy, and how much is hanging on midseason drama The Firm.
Kaplan, who last month signed another three-year extension of his contract with SPT, says he hopes the business model behind the upcoming AXN and NBC drama can be replicated with other SPT dramas, and how original production is providing a "hedge" against the rising cost of US acquisitions.
In the interview, Kaplan also talks about the recent launch of new SPT channel brands in the UK and Spain, and the studio's growing networks business in India, where it operates SET, AXN, Animax and Channel 8.
