TALKING SHOP: Mathieu Béjot, executive director of TV France International, tells C21 about the growing possibilities of seeing French and other international properties remade by production companies in the US.

C21's Talking Shop is a daily strand on C21Media.net that goes behind the news to talk to leading players in the international content business.

Says Béjot: "People are getting more open to the idea because the more you travel, the more you realise broadcasters want safe investments so they need something that has a track record and something that looks local, so a remake is the best way."

In this episode Béjot also discusses why finished programmes, especially dramas, will never find airtime in the US and what challenges producers face when shopping their format overseas.
