Set in 1942, the 8x60’ series has a budget of US$32.8m and delves deeper into the world of the German U-boat first explored in Lothar-Günther Buchheim’s 1973 novel and classic 1981 Wolfgang Petersen movie. The show was filmed in German, French and English – in part aboard a real submarine in the open ocean – and is due to debut this autumn.
