C21 TALKING SHOP: C21 spoke to Ben Stephenson, controller of BBC drama, about some of the pubcaster’s new dramas commissioned for BBC1.
Stephenson says: “BBC1 needs to broadly appeal to all audiences who like television drama, which is what makes it such an exciting place to work. It does mean we can have such a huge diversity of drama and I feel probably the broadest range of mainstream drama in the world.”
In this episode, Stephenson also discusses coproductions, the success of foreign imports on BBC4, including The Killing, and the state of the British drama industry.
