TALKING SHOP: After claiming a “significant” increase in ratings during 2011, BBC Worldwide America’s general manager Perry Simon says 2012 will see the network focus on developing original content.
Simon said: “This is a major step for BBC America - we’ve never really done original programming before, it’s always been importing British programming, both BBC and other British shows. But we felt to lift the channel to the next level, we really had to make that investment and commitment.”
In this episode, Simon also talks about how he has added more consistency to BBC America’s schedule by setting up a British drama strand that runs every Wednesday night, and a comedy strand for Saturday nights.
