Genres: Drama

People: Petra Theman

Companies: Favex

Petra Theman, CEO of Favex, which promotes television from Finland around the world, talks to C21 about why Scandinavian series are so popular and why they have strong remake potential.

C21's Talking Shop is a daily strand on C21Media.net that goes behind the news to talk to leading players in the international content business.

Says Theman: "The crime genre is most popular. That is to do with the track record we have. But it's also a genre that has universal appeal; it's quite easily remade. We have really good writers in that arena, both novelists and script writers. We also have an exotic setting that gives it that little twist."

In this episode, Theman also talks about the challenges facing Finnish producers in 2012 and why they are known as "the engineers."
