Screen Flanders backs int’l copros

Audiovisual funding agency Screen Flanders has revealed the latest raft of productions to receive financial support from its economic fund.

International coproductions to have received funding include Swedish-Belgian crime series Hassel, a co-commission from Nordic-based streaming service Viaplay and Sweden’s TV3.

Crime drama Fenix, from Lemming Film in the Netherlands and A Private View in Belgium, has also received financial support.

Screen Flanders provides funding to audiovisual productions that spend all or part of their budgets within the Flanders region, with local producers able to apply for up to €400,000 (US$431,064). Foreign producers can tap into the fund by coproducing with a Belgian producer that meets the selection criteria.

Its latest investments total €1.45m and span nine new productions across film and television. Together, the projects are expected to generate more than €9.4m in audiovisual expenditure in the Flanders region, Screen Flanders said.
