Screen Flanders forks out US$2m

Audiovisual funding agency Screen Flanders has revealed the latest raft of development projects to receive financial support that will total nearly US$2m, including animated children’s show Ziggy and the Zoo Tram.

The 56×7′ series, directed by Tanguy de Kermel and Federico Milella and produced by Skyline Entertainment, follows animals including a crocodile, a lion and an elephant as they commute on a tram between their homes around the world and a zoo.

Elsewhere French fiction series Diamant Noir from France’s Les Films Pelléas and Belgium’s Savage Film, and documentary special The Last Summer with Mum, coproduced by Norway’s Indie Film and Belgian outfit Walking The Dog, have also secured funding.

Screen Flanders provides financial support to audiovisual productions that spend a minimum of €250,000 (US$306,000) within the Flanders region of Belgium, with local producers able to apply for up to €400,000. Foreign producers can tap into the fund by co-producing with a Belgian producer who meets the selection criteria.

The organisation has previously supported shows including BBC dramas The White Queen and The Missing and DR’s The Team.
