SBS, Foxtel grab DCD factual

Dangerous Borders: A Journey Across India & Pakistan

SBS and Foxtel in Australia, Knowledge Network in Canada and Choice TV in New Zealand are among the broadcasters to have picked up factual series from UK distributor DCD Rights.

October Films’ Dangerous Borders: A Journey Across India & Pakistan, has been acquired by SBS and Knowledge Network as well as Discovery Networks India.

The show follows two journalists uncovering stories of those living on the India-Pakistan border. Made in association with the Open University to mark the 70th anniversary of the Partition of India and the creation of Pakistan, it debuted on the UK’s BBC2 in August.

Foxtel and Choice TV have picked up Tern TV Productions’ 10-part series Best Laid Plans, which sees architectural designer Charlie Luxton and property developer Sophie Morgan team up to help property owners complete large-scale renovations and extensions.

DCD will be taking both shows to next month’s Mipcom, along with a number of other factual series.

Season two of Tern TV’s The Art Detectives (4×60’), which sees experts track down lost and hidden works, will be available along with new productions Hyper Evolution: Rise of the Robots, from Windfall Films, and hour-long special The City of the Future: 50 Years On, from Platform Productions.

DCD CEO Nicky Davies Williams said she was pleased with the early deals and noted the continued global interest in unscripted programming.

“Factual content continues to be a standout performer on the international stage, and our ongoing relationships with leading producers and prestigious brands are ensuring we can bring a diverse variety of exciting new titles to global clients,” she added.
