Samsung takes Cennarium into Brazil

Fledgling video-on-demand service Cennarium has struck a deal with Samsung to deliver its content in Brazil via the technology giant’s connected devices.

The OTT provider, which bills itself as the world’s first performing arts streaming service, launched at Mipcom in Cannes last week.

The platform carries an exclusive selection of recorded plays, operettas, dance performances and ballets from around the world.

Cennarium will now be on offer to all Samsung customers in Brazil via the Mooney app, the technology firm’s own streaming service that provides niche content from a diverse range of content providers.

Currently available in a beta version, the app will be rolled out in Brazil this month to Samsung’s projected 136 million connected devices (tablet, TV and phone) in the country. It will launch in the remainder of Latin America in January 2015.

Cennarium operates in a number of territories including the US, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Russia and the UK.

Managing artistic and commercial director Gulu Monteiro said the Brazilian deal would help its content reach an “expansive new audience.”
