SA producer preps Zulu drama

A producer in South Africa has acquired film and TV rights to a novel by the late South African author Kenneth Bhengu.

Johannesburg-based Ants Multimedia is preparing the author’s 1986 novel Unyambose Nozinith for the screen via its development arm Ants Writing Enclave.

The novel tells the story of a Zulu man who is sent to woo a princess on behalf of his king, but decides to court her for himself and so faces the wrath of the Zulu King.

“This is our moon shot. We are launching to the heights of African majesty with this one,” South African filmmaker and the show’s producer, Uzanenkosi, told C21.

Uzanenkosi is the creator and executive producer of the Peabody award-winning drama series InterSEXions, which airs in South Africa on SABC1.
