Russia tracks down Hunters

MIPCOM: A Russian broadcaster has become the latest to pick up a documentary series exploring the lives and techniques of hunters around the world.

Moscow-based Stream TV has acquired three 13×30’ seasons of Hunters Magazine, which follows presenter Steen Andersen as he travels the world to look at how animals are caught. The deal also includes rights for Russian-speaking parts of Bulgaria and the Baltics.

The programme travels from the Arctic and across Africa to Newfoundland and New Zealand to illustrate the different approaches used to catch prey. Andersen produces the show while Danish distributor FSC holding worldwide sales rights.

FSC, also known as The Funny Shorts Company, was founded in 2010 by Mads Dirckinck-Holmfeld and is best known for its hidden-camera content and sketch shows but moved into factual earlier this year.

Dirckinck-Holmfeld, CEO of FSC Media, said his firm has experienced “huge demand” in recent months for hunting and fishing shows from pay TV operators, with around 20 more episodes of the show planned this year.
