Runway gets Arabic treatment

The Italian version of Fremantle’s Project Runway

Middle Eastern broadcaster MBC is moving forward with an Arabic version of FremantleMedia’s catwalk format Project Runway.

The show has been in the pipeline for well over a year after it was part of a deal FremantleMedia International signed with the pan-Arab media group at Mipcom in 2014.

Project Runway ME will be fronted by Lebanese-Australian model Jessica Kahawaty, while Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab will be joined as head judge by actor Afef Jnifen and a different celebrity guest each week.

The adaptation has already begun filming at MBC’s studios in Beirut and the series is set to debut in the fourth quarter of 2016 on MBC4 and MBC MASR.
