Rubicon TV fills development role

Rubicon TV, the production outfit behind mob drama Lilyhammer, has upped producer Gard Mortensen to become its head of development.

Mortensen will take up the position at the Shine Group-owned Norwegian prodco on September 1.

Most recently he worked as a producer on TV3’s local version of culinary format Masterchef, and before that, had stints with Norwegian prodco Monster.

Mortensen said: “The distinctive, good idea is stronger than ever and we will continue to look for and develop great, local ideas.

“At the same time we are in possession of Shine’s extremely exciting format directory, although that does not mean that we will rest our heads in Norway.”

Rubicon said it will increase its commitment to developing new formats in the coming year and will search for new hires to strengthen the department. The new positions will be staffed this autumn.

Shine is currently in the midst of discussions over a potential alliance with American Idol owner Core Media Group and Endemol.
