RTL Croatia chief set for Studio Hamburg

The CEO of Croatian broadcaster RTL Televizija is leaving after four and a half years in the role and is expected to take over as CEO of Studio Hamburg.

Johannes Züll joined RTL Televizija from Aegis Media Network in 2009 and held a number of executive positions within the RTL Group between 1999 and 2007. He will remain at the company until a successor is appointed.

Prior to his present position, Züll was MD at RTL Interactive and head of strategy and business development at RTL Television in Cologne. He also served as MD of the news channel N-TV, as MD of RTL New Media, head of the internet & new technologies division at RTL Group in Luxembourg, and as head of business development for TV in the German-speaking territories, CLT-UFA. Züll also sat on the supervisory boards of Super RTL and IP Deutschland.

Prior to his RTL Group career, Züll worked for the Boston Consulting Group in Germany and Thailand from 1993 to 1999.

Studio Hamburg, where Züll is expected to take over once his successor in Croatia has been hired, is Germany’s leading production and service centre for film and television. Founded in 1947, the company is today the corporate headquarters for a nationally operating network of stage and studio space, Atelier and Technology, Production and Distribution, Consulting and Services. Its clients range from public and private broadcasting networks to freelance film and television producers.

Since its launch in April 2004, Croatian RTL Televizija has brought variety to the country’s TV market and launched new production and programing trends in the country.

RTL’s extended family of channels in Croatia – which now encompasses RTL Televizija, RTL2, IPTV channel RTL Plus and the new channel RTL Kockica – is part of RTL’s proclaimed strategy against fragmentation in the country and is supposed to further strengthen the company’s position on the advertising market.
