Roughcut backs comedy prodco

The producer of hit BBC3 comedy People Just Do Nothing has launched a production venture backed by Roughcut TV.

Little a, founded by MD Jon Petrie, will focus on original scripted comedy. It has already received its first order, with UK commercial pubcaster Channel 4 (C4) commissioning a comedy that Roughcut will coproduce.

Stath Lets Flats (6×30’) is written by Jamie Demetriou and Friday Night Dinner creator Robert Popper, with Petrie as executive producer.

The series follows Stath, an incompetent lettings agent who represents an unreliable agency in London run by his father. It will air on C4 in the summer.

Other projects in the pipeline for Little a include series in development with both the BBC and C4, as well as a pilot for the BBC shooting in August.
