Robinson joins ITVSGE copro push

ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVSGE) has brought a former NBCUniversal (NBCU) exec onboard to aid growth in the international drama coproduction space.

Fraser Robinson is joining the international distribution arm of the UK commercial broadcaster as VP of scripted acquisitions and coproductions, reporting to senior VP of acquisitions Ruth Clarke.

He was director of scripted for NBCU International Channels from March 2010 until June last year and has been working as a freelance consultant since then.

At NBCU he was responsible for developing and managing coproduced drama including Haven, Fairly Legal, Rookie Blue and Shattered across 50 NBCU channels worldwide.

Prior to that he was director of content at Bell Media-owned Canadian cablenet Space, developing new content and supervising the commissioning of series including The Listener, Defying Gravity and Sanctuary.

A 20-year career in production and development has also included spells with MTV, CTV, CityTV and CBC. He starts his new role at ITVSGE next month.

Clarke, who arrived from Shine just under a year ago, said Robinson’s experience managing international dramas and coproductions would aid ITVSGE’s quest to grow its drama slate and work with a broader range of producers.
