Ripper Street shifts to BBC2

Victorian police drama Ripper Street will move to BBC2 after the UK pubcaster picked up the final two seasons of the show.

Ripper Street

Ripper Street comprises five seasons

Ripper Street originally aired on BBC1 before being cancelled in 2013, with US-based streamer Amazon stepping in to revive the show.

The third season was made available exclusively on Amazon Prime, before it aired on BBC1 and BBC America, which was a coproduction partner on the project. Amazon ordered two more runs but brought the show to an end after its fifth season earlier this year. The last two seasons will now air on BBC2.

The show, from Lookout Point and Tiger Aspect Productions, sees the Whitechapel police fight to enforce law in the wake of Jack the Ripper’s reign of terror. The series is distributed internationally by BBC Worldwide.
