RGTV takes survival series to Cannes

US distributor Rive Gauche Television (RGTV) has picked up the rights to a documentary series focusing on real-life stories of people who have survived freak incidents.

The Day I Almost Died (8×60’) is produced by Indigo Films in association with RGTV and airs on Discovery Life in the US. RGTV is taking the show to MipTV later this month.

The news follows RGTV’s sales of more than 1,000 hours of content worldwide ahead of the Cannes market, including adventure-travel series Born to Explore.

Turner Asia has picked up the series, as has RCS/RDS in Romania, which has acquired the programme as part of a volume deal that also includes Who Let the Dogs Out, Animal Science and Sea Rescue.

Other sales include Homicide Hunter to ProSieben in Germany, Illegal Eater to Focus in Poland, Mountain Movers and The Super to CBS AMC EMEA, Race to the Scene and Buying Bayou to Discovery Italy and Buying… to Top TV in New Zealand.

Meanwhile, RGTV has finalised licensing agreements with TVNorge in Norway and RCS/RDS Romania for Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan, Motorvision in Germany for Operation Repo and Yes DBS Israel and Fox Asia for My Strange Addiction.
