Discovery names new global content chief The senior VP of content for Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic is to fill the new role of international head of content for Discovery Networks International (DNI) and its new TLC channel. In his new role, Luis Silberwasser will report to Mark Hollinger, president and CEO of DNI. "Luis has demonstrated strong creative and strategic leadership in his current role as head of our Latin American content group and this is why I'm expanding his role,” said Hollinger. A big part of Silberwasser's job will be the global launch of female-skewing channel TLC, which DNI hopes to get into more than 75 markets, reaching more than 100 million households, by spring 2011. Outside the US, it currently airs in Brazil. In Latin America, Silberwasser oversees content for the 12 networks Discovery operates in the region. He is also general manager of US Hispanic Networks, which includes Discovery en Español and the Discovery Familia channels. In other personnel news, Sahar Elhabashi, DNI's chief operating officer, is leaving the company and her position will not be replaced. 10 Mar 2010 © C21 Media 2010
