Showtime goes interactive US cable channel Showcase Networks is launching its first interactive TV application for Microsoft Windows XP Media Centre in the first quarter of this year. Showtime Interactive allows viewers to explore hundreds of Showtime programmes and an abundance of DVD-like video extras, including behind-the-scenes clips, trailers and trivia, as well as actor interviews, bios and filmographies. The service can be accessed through a television and is presented through an easy-to-use visual interface, through which viewers can browse via categories such as genre, what’s hot and viewer picks. Searchable programming includes Sleeper Cell, The L Word, Weeds and Huff. In addition, Showtime Interactive will include Showtime Championship Boxing, which will include fighter profiles, win/loss records and a calendar of upcoming bouts. "The launch of Showtime Interactive on Microsoft Windows Media Centre provides a unique opportunity for non-subscribers to discover our diverse line-up of groundbreaking original programming," said Mark Greenberg, executive VP of Showtime Networks. "Windows Media Centre also provides a great platform to present to our viewers added-value content to enhance their Showtime subscription."
