Elsewhere, Richard Hammond won the best presenter gong for his Children's BBC show Richard Hammonds Blast Lab, while Hannah Montana, starring Miley Cyrus, won prizes for best TV programme and feature film, as part of the Bafta Kids' Vote. Veteran actor and presenter Bernard Cribbins, whose credits include Jackanory, The Wombles, Doctor Who and Wind in the Willows, won the special award for his outstanding creative contribution to the industry. Cribbins called for the BBC to return Jackanory to its original format. The programme, which featured live storytellers, was dropped in 1996 after 31 years and revived in 2006 with CGI characters. "I'm not knocking CGI. I think it is fantastic and what it does with stunt work, that is absolutely brilliant. But it seems to have been used unnecessarily a lot of the time," he said. CBBC's political reality series Election, made by indie Diverse Production, won best entertainment prize. Another CBBC series, documentary Serious Ocean, in which eight youngsters sailed around the southern-most tip of South America, won the factual prize. Channel 4's Lost and Found, narrated by Jim Broadbent and produced by Studio AKA and Contender Entertainment Group, won best animation, while S4C's Rhestr Nadolig Wil (Wil's Christmas List), produced by Boomerang, won best drama. The ceremony, held in central London last night, was hosted by children's TV presenters Dick and Dom, aka Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood. 30 Nov 2009 © C21 Media 2009 C21 Home | C21 Kids Home | Printer Friendly | Email a Friend |
