CBBC to Change the World SHOWCOMOTION: UK kids digital network CBBC has commissioned two new live-action series, a comedy and a Dragons' Den-style factual format, BBC North's director Peter Salmon announced in Sheffield. Manchester-based Shine North (Banged Up) is behind fact-ent series This Kid Could Change the World (9x30'), its first children's commission. In the series, kids come up with original innovations that are judged by two expert inventors, who decide which is the most likely to succeed in the real world. A mysterious benefactor will then back the winning product or service's launch following a final judged by a kids-only studio audience. Produced by Bridget Banton for the BBC and Shine North's Andrew Nicolson, This Kid Could Change the World will launch on CBBC next year. As part of the Beeb's goal to up its non-London commissioning spend by 50% by 2016, existing programmes Prank Patrol, produced by Baker Media, and Beat the Boss, from Moray London, will also shift their production to Manchester for their respective third and fifth seasons, Salmon said. Comedy Jinx (13x30), meanwhile, is a commission for Big and Small producer Kindle Entertainment. Based on the Lulu Baker trilogy of novels by Final Dunbar, the series will focus on a girl who owns a magic cookbook that would allow her to live the perfect life if only the mischievous guardian of the book didn't keep getting in the way. Shooting from this month for an autumn launch, Jinx is executive produced by the BBC's Sue Nott and Melanie Stokes for Kindle.
