Super RTL bags Wannabes
Germany's Super RTL has acquired free TV rights for Showcase Entertainment's The Wannabes in Germany.
The Wannabes is a live-action comedy about kids attending a stuffy arts academy who go to extraordinary means to fulfil their dreams of becoming pop stars.
 Production on the first 26x30' episodes begins this June for delivery the first quarter of 2010.
The series is created, written and co-produced by Doreen Spicer, whose writing credits include Disney Channel's hit movie, Jump In! and The Proud Family.
The series will be directed by Eric Dean Seaton (Sonny with a Chance, That's So Raven). C21 reported on the launch of Wannabes at Natpe in Vegas in January this year.
"The show features some of the key themes we are looking for: humour and music. On top, the show has a clear-cut message for our young audience: you can make if you try harder," said Super RTL's programme director Carsten Göttel.
