SpongeBob goes East MTV Networks International (MTVNI) has closed several deals in Central and Eastern Europe for its hit toon SpongeBob Squarepants following Discop in Budapest last week. Albania's Top Channel and Macedonia's A1 network have both acquired the series, seeing the cult character arrive in these territories for the first time. The series will air on the channels from September, under deals brokered by Nicolas Bonard, VP of programme sales and coproductions, MTVNI. "These deals reflect the phenomenal global success that has made SpongeBob SquarePants the animated icon it is today, as well as underlining our recognition of Central and Eastern Europe as an increasingly important market representing the biggest growth potential in the region," he said. In addition, TV2 in Hungary has signed an agreement with MTVNI to renew and extend its current licence period to include new episodes of the show. 25 Jun 2007 © C21 Media 2007 C21 Home | C21 Kids Home | Printer Friendly | Email a Friend |
