GMTV launches new kids strand UK breakfast broadcaster GMTV is launching a new kids weekend morning strand, Toonattik, featuring high-rating animation from Disney, Jetix and Nickelodeon. ![]() Toons will include Disney's Lilo & Stitch, Recess, Kim Possible and Dave the Barbarian; Jetix's Power Rangers and Spiderman, as well as Nickelodeon's SpongeBob Squarepants, Dora the Explorer and Rugrats.The programme will primarily target kids aged 4-9 but will also appeal to other age groups and include preschool programming. GMTV Kids creative director and head of on-air, Mark Wilson, created the show with controller of scheduling and acquisitions Brian Hughes and series producer Becky Overton. It will be produced in-house. In addition to the above programmes, Hughes has also brokered deals with French companies for two animated series: Titeuf (retitled Tootuff) from Moonscoop Distribution and Marathon's Totally Spies. Other highlights include DIC Entertainment's Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Yu-Gi-Oh! from 4 Kids Entertainment. The launch of Toonattik follows the decision to axe Disney's Diggin' It block on Saturdays and the Up On The Roof boys action block on Sundays. GMTV is now 75% owned by ITV and 25% owned by Disney.
