C21/FRAPA announce format awards shortlist

Online voting for the C21/FRAPA Formats Awards has now closed. A final shortlist has been unveiled and will be presented in Cannes on Wednesday October 7, where the winners will be announced.

David Jenkinson, C21’s editor-in-chief & managing director, said: “Voting has been brisk throughout September as executives from all over the world screen the entries and choose their favourite formats.

"There continues to be a remarkable amount of creativity around the development of these shows, and in the tougher economic climate formats continue to deliver. We are looking forward to announcing the final winner in each category, as chosen by votes from our community of 35,000 international entertainment executives, during Mipcom.”

In each of the categories, and in no particular order, the final contenders for winning formats are:

The Gold Medal will be presented to former Endemol chief creative officer Peter Balazgette (left) for his work in helping to define the formats genre.

The awards will be presented at a reception during Mipcom to be held from 6.30pm-8pm on Wednesday October 7 at ClubC21 in Cannes. The awards presentation ceremony will start at 7.30pm prompt, and finish by 8pm.
