Five lines up Eyeworks gameshow
Struggling RTL Group-owned UK broadcaster Five has commissioned Eyeworks UK to produce a local version of primetime gameshow Heads Or Tails.
The show, which debuted on Channel Nine in Australia earlier this year, will be fronted in the UK by TV presenter Justin Lee Collins, who has signed an exclusive two-year deal with Five.
The 10-part series will see Lee Collins become a key face of the channel, setting him up for a further range of entertainment and factual programmes.
Five parent RTL yesterday labelled the UK network the worst-performing part of its pan-European broadcasting and production business, with a 35% revenue slide and restructuring charges delivering a major dent to its first-half results.
Five controller Richard Woolfe was upbeat about the deal with Lee Collins, however. "I'm delighted to have secured Justin at such a pivotal point for Five. We have just celebrated 14 weeks of continued growth - the only terrestrial to do so," he said.
