Geller conjures up German format deal Israeli talent show with a twist The Successor, in which cutlery-warping Mike Jackson buddy Uri Geller seeks his heir on the mentalist stage, has been picked up in Germany. Premiering in 2008 on commercial free channel ProSieben, the local production will feature Geller as he searches for the country's next great "mystifyer", testing the home audience's mental powers along the way. "Uri Geller has a very captivating personality. He succeeds in fascinating audiences like no other. After his huge success in Israel, he will now be searching for his successor on ProSieben," said Andreas Bartl, MD at ProSieben. The format is distributed outside Israel and the US by ProSieben sister company SevenOne International, which has an arrangement with the format's original broadcaster, Keshet Broadcasting, one of the two Channel 2 franchises in Israel. The Successor has the potential to be an international hit show. It's innovative and covers a wide range of emotions," said SevenOne boss Jens Richter. In the US Keshet Formats is represented by talent agency Endeavor. The Successor is described by SevenOne as "the most successful launch in Israeli television history," achieving an average share of 50% among all households last fall. The format was developed by Keshet, local prodco Kuperman Productions and Geller. Eva Madjiboj, VP of business development of Keshet Broadcasting, added: "When developing a new format for our channel we always consider its international potential."
