Babelgum reaches End of the Line Web portal Babelgum is to premiere Rupert Murray's feature-length environmental documentary The End of the Line online and on mobile, as a reversioned six-part series. The premiere of The End of the Line - The Series will be timed to coincide with the theatrical release of the feature documentary, which was selected for competition at Sundance earlier this year. ![]() Murray said: "We always wanted to incorporate mobile and internet platforms into our release strategy. We worked closely with Babelgum to find the most appropriate and novel approach to create these six custom episodes." The deal marks a further step into hosting original factual programming for Babelgum, following the premiere of original doc series Extinction Sucks and feature-length Downstream earlier this year. Babelgum has acquired the online and mobile five-month worldwide exclusive rights - two-year overall rights - and will be showing the first episode this week, with the remaining five episodes to be released one every week thereafter. The deal was negotiated by Babelgum's general manager and publisher for film Karol Martesko-Fenster, and George Duffield and Christopher Hird on behalf of prodco The Fish Film Company. Martesko-Fenster said Babelgum was "leading a new trend where mobile and internet delivery is becoming an integral part of the overall distribution process" for feature-length documentary releases. The documentary had its world premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, opening in the World Cinema Documentary competition. Adam Benzine 8 Jun 2009 © C21 Media 2009 |
