TMC allies with UK prodco for new doc banner US producer/distributor TMC Entertainment has created a new division, TMC Docs, charged with producing primetime historical and contemporary 'event' docs and is launching with a project for PBS. Three-hour high-def miniseries Walking The Bible, based on the book of the same name, is produced in association with Boston public television channel WGBH and UK-based Maya Vision International, and is scheduled for broadcast on PBS in January. TMC has also signed a production agreement with Maya Vision that will see the UK firm serve as a coproduction partner as well as handle the filming of TMC Docs’ future slate. The next feature-length doc series scheduled for production under the TMC Docs banner, again in association with WGBH and Maya Vision International, is The Route to Christianity, a six-hour tour of some early Christianity sites. The company is also in discussion with Bruce Feiler, author of Walking The Bible, to produce a new miniseries based on his current bestseller, Where God Was Born, which takes viewers on a journey through the second half of the Old Testament. Additionally, TMC and WGBH are in talks to create an agreement whereby WGBH would become a coproducer of select upcoming TMC epic docs. Jo Anne Kenny 21 Dec 2005 © C21 Media 2005 |
