Red promotes two for int’l push

UK-based Red Production Company has promoted two of its executives as the Last Tango in Halifax producer focuses on international growth.

Caroline Hollick has been promoted to the newly created post of creative director while Richard Fee takes on her previous role as head of development.

Hollick will focus on developing original scripted content with writers, producers and directors both from the UK and internationally. The firm is upping its commitment to develop more big budget drama series and intends to work with new online platforms and forge international co-productions on scripted content.

Fee will explore online and TV on-demand opportunities in the UK and internationally, as well as new global funding streams for original content.

He will also continue to manage the prodco’s development slate, which includes a second season of Happy Valley for the BBC and comedian Lenny Henry’s first screenplay Danny and The Human Zoo.

Also joining the prolific indie is Michaela Eccleston who was appointed head of production earlier this year.

Red is currently in production of a third season of Last Tango in Halifax as well as six-part drama Ordinary Lies from writer Danny Brocklehurst for BBC1.

Last year StudioCanal acquired a majority stake in Red Production, marking the Paris-based media company’s first move into production in the UK.
