Red Arrow, Don Carmody smell Blood

German distributor Red Arrow Studios International has teamed up with Canadian prodco Don Carmody Television (DCTV) for a poaching-themed action thriller.

David Cormican

Female-driven 8×60’ series Blood Horn sees a former US marine return to her childhood home in South Africa to avenge the killing of her uncle and the two lions she grew up with, before quickly realising that her former hometown is the epicentre of Africa’s illegal poaching trade.

Created by Mark Bacci (Real Detective), Dwayne Hill (Billable Hours) and David Cormican, president and partner of DCTV, the show is being directed and exec produced by UK screenwriter and film director MJ Bassett (Power, Solomon Kane). Red Arrow Studios International will handle global distribution.

“The potential for this series to change the narrative around endangered species and conservation efforts at the international and political levels, and ultimately hopefully saving the rhino from complete extinction, is our main motivation in pursuing this story through the medium of compelling high-end scripted television,” Cormican said.

“I’ve been obsessed with wildlife and conservation my whole life,” added Bassett. “I’d planned to study zoology so I could work in Africa to help conserve species but my career took a different path. Now, Blood Horn offers me a unique opportunity to tell a vitally important story.”
