Kiefer Sutherland stars in Designated Survivor

Canadian French-language VoD service Club illico and TVA Group will air Kiefer Sutherland-starring US drama Designated Survivor.

The show, created by executive producer David Guggenheim, has been acquired from Entertainment One (eOne), with TVA parent Quebecor Content picking up French-language rights.

It stars Sutherland as a lower-level cabinet member who is suddenly appointed president of the US after a catastrophic attack that kills everyone above him in the line of succession.

The series is produced by eOne-owned The Mark Gordon Company alongside ABC Studios.

Canadian channels operator Quebecor has also acquired two US drama series from Warner Bros International Television Distribution.

Frequency, a police drama produced by Warner Bros for The CW, and the TV reboot of feature film Lethal Weapon, from Warner for Fox, have both been picked up.
