Clive Spink, who has been at Pukeko for more than a year, will take over from Smith on August 1.

Smith is leaving to become CEO of Wellington-based mobile, web and cloud software developer Touchtech. He has worked with Pukeko Pictures and its partner Weta Workshop for the past 18 years.

Spink, meanwhile, has previously worked for Vodafone New Zealand as well as local production company Kotuku Productions and broadcaster TVNZ’s TV One.

Pukeko Pictures was formed in 2008 by Sir Richard Taylor, Tania Rodger and Martin Baynton, and is based in Wellington.

Recent series it has worked on include Thunderbirds Are Go! and The WotWots, while it has also invested in a local digital firm that specialises in creating storybook apps.
