ProSieben keeps light shining

German broadcaster ProSieben is the latest network to commission a local version of Global Agency’s singing talent format Keep Your Light Shining.

German prodco Tresor, known for local versions of Next Top Model and Popstars, will produce the show for ProSieben and British X Factor judge Gary Barlow has already been signed up to participate.

The show, where 12 contestants sing the same song on a darkened stage and are illuminated by a spotlight for 20 seconds while they perform their section, will debut on May 22.

The singers have a limited amount of time to impress the audience and judges before the light moves on to someone else. An audience vote eliminates a contestant after each song, giving those remaining more time in the spotlight next time around.

Finish production company Aito Media picked up the format rights earlier this month while Zhejiang TV in China is also prepping a local version.
