Global TV has picked up The Jeff Probst Show and The Ricki Lake Show for its line-up for this fall, adding the US-made talkshows to Canada’s already turbulent daytime arena.

The new series will air on Shaw Media-owned Global this fall, the network said on Tuesday, joining a schedule that already includes a few US soaps and recent arrival The Doctors.

Recent changes to the daytime scene in Canada include the more bullish posture of Rogers-owned Citytv and its pick-up of Katie Couric’s Katie, plus the uncertain footing of Steven and Chris on the newly cash-poor CBC. Recent daytime convert Anderson Cooper airs in Canada on CTV.

Long-time Survivor host Probst’s show is handled by CBS Television Distribution, which sees it as a co-viewable option to the largely female-skewing daytime fare. It is slated to start September 6.

Lake’s show follows her other, eponymous talkshow that was syndicated in the early 1990s. It is expected to premiere on September 20.
