Power creator to orbit Starz

US cablenet Starz has signed an overall deal with the creator of its crime drama series Power, which it renewed for a third season last week, to keep her tied to the show.

Courtney Kemp Agboh will continue to serve in her current role as executive producer and showrunner on Power, which began its second run last week.

Kemp Agboh started her career in the magazine world before moving into television, writing for series such as The Bernie Mac Show and The Good Wife.

Power debuted last year and follows a wealthy nightclub owner who caters to New York City’s elite while leading a double life in the NYC drugs trade.

The series is produced by rapper Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, who performs the theme song and also appears in a supporting role.

It was recently greenlit for a 10-episode third season and currently airs in more than 175 countries/territories worldwide, including on Sony Pictures Television-owned AXN Germany.
