Pop joins Clique, picks Dicks

US network Pop has picked up Nordic comedy Swedish Dicks and UK drama Clique as part of its new-look schedule.

Swedish Dicks, from MTG’s SVoD service Viaplay and starring Keanu Reeves, is the first Nordic title to be distributed worldwide by the sales arm of Lionsgate and was recently extended into a second season, which Pop will also air.

The comedy is produced by Viking Brothers Entertainment and Brain Academy, part of MTG-owned Nice Entertainment.

Clique, meanwhile, is coproduced by BBC Studios and Balloon Entertainment for BBC3 in the UK and is sold globally by All3Media International. The six-part thriller centres on childhood soulmates who are drawn into an elite clique at university.

The CBS and Lionsgate joint-venture network will also air scripted comedy Hot Date, created in partnership with digital outfit CollegeHumor and its studio Big Breakfast, as well as returning drama Schitt’s Creek and workplace comedy Nightcap.

Other shows to return include drama Wolf Creek, based on the cult horror film of the same name, while Pop has taken online and linear rights to veteran medical series ER.

“Pop’s new slate features programming that takes broad, familiar constructs and puts a forward-thinking, contemporary spin on them,” said Justin Rosenblatt, exec VP of original programming and development at Pop.
