Pop orders T Group comedy

CBS and Lionsgate’s US joint-venture cablenet Pop has ordered a scripted comedy from T Group Productions, the US firm behind Storage Hunters.

The 8×30’ comedy series stars New Kids on the Block’s Joey McIntyre as a fictionalised version of himself – a former boy-band singer trying to transition to a career in acting.

T Group made the show, which joins comedy Schitt’s Creek, forthcoming Australian thriller Wolf Creek and Nightcap in Pop’s line-up.

McIntyre is an executive producer along with Donnie Wahlberg, Jenny McCarthy, Tim Gibbons, Paul Greenberg and Jenny Daly.

Last week, Pop appointed senior CW Network executive Justin Rosenblatt as exec VP of original programming and development, with incumbent Paul Adler set to leave his role after 16 years.

Rosenblatt’s appointment came as Pop prepares to expand in scripted and unscripted television across multiple genres and formats.
