Polish nets nab factual shows

TVN and Fokus TV are amongst three Poland-based broadcasters to have acquired factual content from London-based distributor TVF International.

Commercial broadcaster TVN will air Children of the Sex Trade (1×58′), produced by Fairtrade Films for ABC Australia, which follows two young sisters in the Philippines who help former police and special forces officers rescue underage girls from sex bars.

Spektrum-owned Fokus TV has acquired the first two seasons of The Food Files, a TVF International format remade by Active TV for MediaCorp in Singapore, as well as Channel 4’s Transgenders: Pakistan’s Open Secret (1×52) from Clover Films, and Channel 5’s Bizarre Burials (1×45′).

Elsewhere international Polish-language broadcaster ITVN has picked up adventure series Untamed with Davey Hughes (9×30′) and environmental show Across the World with Te Radar (16×30′). It’s also added Chasing Happiness (6×23′) from Channel NewsAsia, which uses experiments set up by leading psychologists and consultants to reveal the latest research unravelling the mysteries of happiness.

Finally, Planete+ will broadcast shows including CBC’s Slaves to Habit (1×52′) and top selling aerial franchise The World From Above I – VI (78 x 30- minutes).

Harriet Armston-Clarke, TVF sales manager, said demand for factual content in Poland had risen recently and said the wider CEE region is in “big growth mode.”
