Pocket.watch signs up OddParents creator

The creator of kids’ shows including Fairly OddParents has partnered with fledging US children’s firm Pocket.watch to develop three new animated series for kids.

Butch Hartman

Butch Hartman has signed a non-exclusive three-year deal with Pocket.watch that will see him work with chief content officer Albie Hecht on new projects as senior creative consultant.

One is based on an idea from Hartman, another has been developed directly from an original idea from Pocket.watch’s existing development slate and the third, HobbyKids Adventures, is based on YouTube network HobbyKidsTV.

The latter was named as Pocket.watch’s first creative partner in April and the show will see three personalities from the channel turned into animated characters.

“Our vision is to build the ultimate kids’ media brand that combines attributes from both digital and traditional entertainment, and Butch is the perfect person to help get us there,” said Chris M Williams, founder and CEO of Pocket.watch.

Williams founded the company, which creates, acquires and distributes entertainment for kids aged between two and 11, in March this year.

Investors that have helped Pocket.watch generate US$6m in Series A funding include United Talent Agency, CBS president and CEO Les Moonves and actor Robert Downey Jr.

Pocket.watch recently appointed Genius Brand International’s Stone Newman as chief revenue officer.
