Pivot delves into Secret Lives

Participant Media’s US cablenet Pivot has greenlit a docuseries that sees people reveal deep secrets to those who are closest to them.

Secret Lives of Americans, produced by All3Media-owned MME/Filmpool USA, will premiere this summer after being revealed at Pivot’s Television Critics Association Winter presentation.

“In an era of social media that captures only what individuals want people to see, everyday Americans will turn off their filters and unmask the secrets and issues that hold them back,” said Belisa Balaban, exec VP of original programming for Pivot.

“Through Secret Lives of Americans, we are able to highlight a wide range of societal issues that Americans face and how they are coping with them.”

Eli Holzman, Stephen Lambert and Danny Villa are exec producers for MME/Filmpool USA. John Henshaw is a co-exec producer while Jeff Skoll and Christy Spitzer are exec producers for Pivot. Secret Lives of Americans will be primarily shot by the subjects themselves.

Meanwhile, Pivot has ordered more episodes of the travel-adventure series Angry Planet, from Cineflix Media.

The channel also unveiled three productions in development including: Shrink (working title), a 30-minute scripted comedy produced by Jean Doumanian and Patrick Daly for Jean Doumanian Productions; a 30-minute untitled investigative sports series produced by T Group Productions; and an untitled news magazine series from award-winning documentary filmmaker Brian Knappenberger.

In November, Participant Media shuffled the management team at Pivot following the exit of president Evan Shapiro, promoting Kent Rees to take his place.

Pivot launched in the US in August 2013 as a linear cablenet aimed at the country’s millennials.
