US market organiser Natpe is looking for a successor to Rod Perth, its current president and CEO, who is to step down after next year’s event in Miami.

Perth has extended his contract until February 2016, when he will join Natpe’s board of directors and participate in the selection of a new leader of the association.

Since taking the helm at Natpe in 2012, the industry veteran is credited with leading the company during a period of increased participation at its events in Miami and Prague.

“These actions we are taking reflect the culmination of a multi-year turnaround effort made possible by all of the success we’ve achieved during Rod’s watch,” said Natpe board chairman Jordan Levin.

“Under his leadership, Rod has greatly increased Natpe’s visibility and return to relevance by increasing industry participation across all sectors and platforms.”

Perth will remain in a “senior leadership position” at Natpe for at least the next three years, Levin added.

“Given my family priorities, I recently began discussing with the board how I could make an orderly transition from day-to-day duties, and this contract extension will encourage a thoughtful transition to new leadership,” Perth said.

“I look forward to continuing to work closely with Natpe’s board, executive committee and staff, and assisting in identifying and mentoring the future leader of the organisation.”

A co-founder of US cable channel Reelz and former president of USA Networks Entertainment, Perth also ran late-night programming for CBS and served as a board member for Marvel and CNET before joining Natpe.
