PBS sells JFK doc globally

Broadcasters in Scandinavia, Australia and Canada have picked up a JFK anniversary documentary from the distribution arm of US pubcaster PBS.

Cold Case JFK, from PBS’s science strand Nova, uses new technology, science and expert interviews to recreate the president’s assassination in 1963 and the Warren Commission’s investigation.

In Europe, the doc has been taken by RTS (Switzerland), NRK (Norway) and TVI (Portugal). Further afield, SBS (Australia), Canal Once (Mexico), SRC-RDI and CBC Newsworld (both Canada) and EBS (South Korea) and MBN/Alhurra (Middle East) have also picked it up. The special is distributed by PBS International.

The doc will be among a string of PBS specials, including Nutopia’s How We Got to Now, that will mark the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination in November.

Other programmes marking the infamous date include the latest installments of American Experiences series The Presidents and Secrets of the Dead, which will wrap the anniversary by looking at how the media reported the event.
