PBS adds Fox exec for digital

US pubcaster PBS has tapped a former Fox executive to head its digital studios and develop programming across platforms for its channels.

Don Wilcox becomes VP of digital marketing and services and will report to Ira Rubenstein, senior VP and general manager of PBS Digital from October 27.

Wilcox will oversee PBS.org and PBS Digital Studios and leverage emerging digital channels and platforms to promote the broadcaster’s content.

He has been in the TV industry for more than 15 years and was most recently working as a consultant to various entertainment, media and agency clients. Before that he was VP and general manager of branded entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, and worked across shows including American Idol and The X Factor USA.

Prior to joining Fox, Wilcox was exec director of marketing and client services at Sony Pictures Interactive and has also worked at ABC, NBC and Microsoft.
