Shade: Queens of NYC looks at drag queens in New York City

Tinopolis-owned UK sales house Passion Distribution has revealed a slate of six shows for MipTV, led by a factual entertainment series that teaches badly behaved teenagers how to dance.

Bad Teen to Ballroom Queen (6×60) is produced by UK prodco Firecracker Films for Channel 5-owned 5Star. The process will be judged each week by professional ballroom dancers Mick and Lorna Stylianos before one is crowned Bad Teen Ballroom Champion.

Shade: Queens of NYC (12×30’) is a documentary series produced by Brooklyn-based Cowboy Bear Ninja for US cablenet Fusion TV and follows the lives of drag queens in the Big Apple.

The Price of Fame (6×60’), commissioned by US cablenet Reelz from Texas-based AMS Pictures, explores the private lives of celebrities including Prince, Johnny Depp, Robin Williams and Carrie Fisher.

Wedding series Where to I Do? (8X30’), which looks for the perfect location to tie the knot, is produced by Canada’s Bell Media and Motion Content Group for Gusto Canada.

Doc Big Ben: Saving the World’s Most Famous Clock (1×90’) comes from UK producer ITN Productions and follows the most extensive renovation in the landmark’s 160-year history. It was commissioned by pubcaster Channel 4 in the UK.

Finally, DHL: Delivering the World (4×60’), from UK indie Whitworth Media for Channel 5, follows the work of the global logistics firm, revealing how it delivers to difficult locations like Venice.

The slate was unveiled by CEO Emmanuelle Namiech and head of sales Nick Tanner at Passion’s annual showcase held in London yesterday.
