Paramount Network adapts Accused

BBC1’s original Accused

Viacom-owned Paramount Network, the US channel that is set to replace Spike, has linked up with Sony Pictures Television to develop a scripted series based on a UK format.

Accused will be produced by David Shore (The Good Doctor, House) for Shore Z Productions and All3Media America.

Executive producers include Shore, All3’s Greg Lipstone and Nina Lederman, and Erin Gunn.

The show is an anthology series in which each stand-alone episode follows a different character as they make their way to court to hear whether they’ve been found guilty of a crime.

The format is represented by All3Media International and was originally commissioned by BBC1.

Brad Gardner, senior VP of development and original programming at Paramount Network and TV Land, will oversee the new project.

Paramount Network launches on Thursday January 18 with a live episode of Lip Sync Battle. The rebranded channel has already revealed plans for further unscripted originals.
