Parable appoints, signs All3 Int’l deal

UK producer Parable has made a number of appointments and agreed an exclusive first-look deal with the distribution arm of All3Media.

Will Robson

Will Robson has been named head of development at Parable having previously been in the same role at UK-based Flint TV. Prior to that he worked for fellow UK producers including BriteSpark, Dragonfly and BBC Studios.

Meanwhile, Helen Collerton has joined as executive producer in the branded content side of the business, having previously worked at Sundog Pictures and Firecracker Films.

Parable launched in March 2017 and was founded by the ex-director of programmes at The Garden Productions David Wise, Nicholas Minter Green, most recently founder and president of The Economist Films, and director Jonathan Rudd.

The company is backed by Channel 4’s Growth Fund, UK publication The Economist and format veteran Stephen Lambert.

Parable has also unveiled a three-year distribution agreement that will see All3Media International partnering with the company as the prodco builds its factual and factual entertainment TV slate.

Parable, which had focused on VR and 360º content for brands, recently moved into TV production and has secured commissions from UK broadcasters the BBC and Channel 4.

Its first 2D commission, The Naked Truth: Obesity, was ordered by BBC3 and is due for release on BBC digital platform iPlayer on April 29, while Grenfell: Our Home is C4’s first original virtual reality commission. It tells the stories of survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire in London, focusing on their lives and homes before the tragedy.

Wise said All3 “shares our ambition to promote purposeful and entertaining factual television with broad international appeal. It’s exciting to be making TV alongside our passion for VR and 360, and our deal with All3Media International is an important next step in the growth of our business.”
