Pantaya preps Laugh Factory specials

Lionsgate-backed streaming service Pantaya is bolstering its comedy offering after agreeing a deal with Hollywood club Laugh Factory.

Pantaya, a joint venture between Lionsgate and Hispanic broadcaster Hemisphere Media Group, will launch a series of comedy specials titled Laugh Factory en Español.

The shows will be produced by US-based producer Campanario Entertainment and feature 22 comedians appearing in one-hour episodes, with two airing each month on Pantaya.

Mario Almeida, Pantaya’s VP of acquisitions, said: “The Laugh Factory occupies an iconic place in comedy history and with Spanish-language stand-up growing, we look forward to being able to highlight these fresh and original comedic voices later this month.”

Pantaya launched last August and features content from Lionsgate’s existing venture with Televisa, Pantelion Films, and provides exclusive and first-run access to all of Pantelion’s Spanish-language releases.
